Over the years Jack Hume Adventures has been fortunate enough to host some of the top media characters from the hunting industry. For 2012 Jim and Eva Shockey are lined up to hunt with us and produce a show with us to air on the Outdoor Channel and on Wild TV.

...For Your Return Home

For your return to Montreal you will be charged antler fees on our charter flight if you have not split both of your antlers or if you have more than 1 full set of antlers.  Basically, the charges are as follows: 2 split sets (free); 1 whole set (free); 1 split and 1 whole set ($50); 2 whole sets ($100).  All antlers must be split before leaving the outpost camp.

Your guide will have put the meat from each of your caribou into a separate hard plastic box with each of your tags on the four identifiable quarters and your name clearly marked on each box.  You will have the option of using a third box for your cape if desired.  These boxes are for you to travel home with, however, if you do not need them please leave them in Montreal.  Your antlers should be tagged with your name clearly marked for pick-up in Montreal.

Before leaving your outpost camp, you should keep with you any personal belongings that you might need before your arrival in Montreal (i.e. wallet, camera).  You must have on your person all licenses and any unused tags, and your registration form for your caribou.  Do not put these items in your baggage – they will need to be completed as soon as you arrive back at the base camp.

You will return to Schefferville / Lac Pau during the afternoon on the last day of your scheduled hunt.  Once all Otters have arrived back at the base camp and the charter flight has been loaded, you will depart for Montreal.  Because you will be flying on a charter flight, flight times are not set in stone due to weather conditions and other variables beyond our control.  The estimated time of arrival in Montreal is 10:00 pm.

After arriving in Montreal, you will be taken by bus back to the Holiday Inn Hotel and your baggage will arrive shortly after.  You must remain in the parking lot until all of your baggage, meat and antlers have been collected.  A reefer unit will be available on site for those wishing to leave meat overnight and a secure area will be available for the antlers to be stored.  Dry ice will be available for purchase (approx. $10 / 5lbs), and butcher and taxidermist services will be available for those who previously requested them.  For those traveling home on a commercial airline, there are a few things to consider before your departure:

1.    Having your meat processed and vacuum sealed before your flight will significantly cut down on weight, and in turn, cut down on charges by your airline.

2.   Check with your airline regarding their policies on traveling with dry ice.  Most airlines allow a maximum of 5 lbs.

3.   All airlines require antlers to be wrapped properly with no part of the antler visible or exposed.  Antlers can be wrapped in Montreal so that they are suitable for commercial air travel for a fee of about $25 / set.

Taxidermist and Butcher Fees

The following are approximate costs of butcher and taxidermist services offered:

1.    $80 USD per caribou butchered, vacuum sealed and fast frozen.

2.   $250 USD per salted cape shipped directly to your home.

3.   $350 USD per tanned cape shipped directly to your home.

4.   $430 per European mount with plaque, crated and shipped directly to your home.

5.   $960 USD per shoulder mount, crated and shipped directly to your home.

The only information or documents you will need to return to the USA with your meat and antlers are your license and registration forms for each species of animal harvested, and your non-resident firearms declaration form.  If you will be transporting meat which belongs to someone other than yourself, you must notify us upon returning to the base camp and we will supply you with a “donation” form to carry with you.  You CANNOT ship your meat or antlers via Fedex, UPS or any other mail carrier – they must be with a person for entry into the USA.

We hope that you enjoy your entire adventure and thank you for your patronage!
