About Richard & Amanda Hume

The Hume's have been guiding hunters and fishermen in Quebec’s far north since the early 1970's. Jack Hume Adventures is a family-owned and operated business that is two generations strong.

Richard Hume has over 25 years of experience outfitting and piloting in Nunavik.  His wife Amanda, has been an integral part of the operation for the past 15 years.  Together, their mission is to provide first class northern adventures for groups of family and friends, creating memories to last a lifetime.

The recent closure of caribou hunting in Quebec would have seemingly put an end to their lifetime livelihood -  if it wasn't for their driving desire to continue sharing this great land with those who have the same love for adventure in places of extremely remote, majestic beauty.  At the end of what would have been their last season operating in the north (Sept. 2017), with the imminent hunt closure looming for 2018, they decided to visit a territory 240 miles northwest of base camp that was owned by a great man with the same dream, who had recently passed on.  This man was Mr. Albert Fortier, founder of Wedge Hills Lodge in 1960.  Mr. Fortier was one of the very first outfitters in Quebec.  The opportunity to carry on his dream seemed fitting, and the territory and river surrounding the lodge was impressive.  Change brings opportunity.  Here is a short video clip of Richard and Amanda's adventure that day:

  • We have the highest repeat business in the industry. Some of our clients have actually returned with us as many as 16 times!
  • We believe that the only way to ensure customers' safety, satisfaction and success is for the owners to be present and involved in absolutely every decision and aspect of the adventure.  From the initial greeting, to baggage handling and logistics, piloting and guiding, we strive to maintain happy customers by immersing ourselves in the operation - That is key.
